Constant Power

 

Music and speakers have a dynamic relationship. As the frequency of music varies, so does the impedance of the speaker. Rockford Fosgate’s patented Constant Power circuit design actively monitors and increases voltage and current as the speaker’s impedance rises with music, resulting in up to a 25% increase in total amplifier power.

TO-247 MOSFETs

The MOSFET transistor is the best type of device to use when building a high quality mobile amplifier. The Power family departs from the traditional use of the TO-220 package MOSFET semiconductor found in most competitive brands in favor of the substantially larger TO-247 package. The TO-247 has 60% more metal tab area and its unique, fully encapsulated design is capable of housing a silicon die (the heart of the MOSFET) twice as large as the TO-220. The larger die provides more power handling capacity. Additionally, the extra metal tab area ensures that no matter what size silicon die is inside, the thermal impedance will always be lower than in the TO-220 due to improved heat dissipation.

Balanced Differential Inputs

Differential inputs eliminate noise picked up by signal cables.

 

Differential input circuitry measures the voltage of both the (+) and (-) input signal. The circuitry subtracts the voltage common to both conductors (noise) resulting in only the clean signal. This allows only clean signal to enter the amplifier.
